Process
If you are a farmer or rancher that is looking for my grant coaching services through Sierra Harvest, ignore this page. Email farminstitute@sierraharvest.org to get set up with this service at no cost to you. See https://sierraharvest.org/farmers/grant-coaching/ for more details.
1
Fill out the new client form to let me know what kind of grant services you’re looking for. It’s alright if you’re not sure - we can work through your vision and make a plan together!
I will respond via email within one week to let you know if my grant services would be a good fit for your project or program (read about my ethos in my about section for more information). If so, we can go ahead and schedule an initial consultation.
Initial consultation
2
In this meeting, we will discuss your needs and desires for grant funding for your initiative, organization or business. If you have a specific project or program in mind and/or a grant opportunity in mind already, excellent. If not, we can brainstorm ideas together.
We will also discuss contract details:
Project duration and deadlines
If needed, we will develop separate contracts for funding opportunity research, grant writing, and grant administration consulting services.
Estimated total hours of work
Clarify budget and discuss total quote
Currently my hourly rate is $32/hr for all grant consulting and writing activities. I will take on a select few pro bono contracts for low-budget clients that are the right fit for my services.
Review contract clauses & policies
Discuss frequency and method of communication that is required and is comfortable
If ready, discuss timeline and deliverables
Contract creation
3
Either the client or myself will create a contract for both parties to sign.
The contract should allow for revisions but will set basic expectations based on what is discussed in the initial consultation.
The contract should include required policies from both parties. I have required clauses that I will send over in writing to be included prior to signing.
Project progress and completion
4
I will create a detailed timeline, including scheduled meetings, check-ins, and deliverables as discussed to share with you within one week of our initial conversation.
I prefer to communicate regularly with clients. I will keep you updated on my progress and likely ask many questions along the way.
I will track my hours and inform clients if I’m expected to over- or under-shoot based on the estimation discussed in the initial consultation.
We will have multiple check-ins towards the end of the project to ensure details are finalized and the client is happy with the product.
I will send an invoice upon project completion.
